[...] Unfortunately, so many of these large-scale health issues that we are fighting are the result of the deregulation of the advertising industry during the Reagan administration in the 80’s (I promise I’ll cover that in a subsequent post). The door was opened for advertisers to get directly in front of children, and their influence has grown exponentially (for more insight into the insidious tactics of the soft drink industry, read Red Pill Mama’s post, “Oh, This Bloody Coke Thing”).
No surprised reaction from this reader. I have read things about the CDC, AAP, and AMA that made my skin crawl.

What type of education are we hoping to receive about sweeteners? If it's as good as the "informercials" on high fructose corn syrup, I think I'll pass.

Did you know that high fructose corn syrup is the nutritionally the same as sugar? And that it's fine in moderation? And that it's in about 65% of the processed foods you pick up from the supermarket shelves? If, in one day, you eat a bowl of sugary cereal, drink some juice, have anything with regular ketchup on it, eat a couple of slices of bread, and wash it down with some soda, you've just ingested something that is nutritionally the same as sugar with everything you ate. Doesn't sound like moderation to me.
